Three Things Thursday: Best Picture EVER!

June 21, 2012 by operationjack 3 Comments

Three things Thursday, here we go. I’m gonna time myself and see if I can get this written in less than 10 minutes.

1. Jack (my severely autistic 8-year-old son, in case you’ve never been here) loves playing with Tiff’s iPhone. He’ll snag it and play with the camera any chance he gets. Occasionally, he’ll fire off texts without really knowing it. Sometimes, he’ll include pictures in those texts. Yesterday, he sent the best picture ever to our landlord. Now, you can obviously see the picture before you finish reading these sentences. But clear your mind for just a minute and imagine you’re our landlord. You get a text from one of your tenants. You see it includes a picture. You open it up and this is all you see. If you’re not laughing, you have no sense of humor!

I’m watching you!

2. We’re doing the Biggest Loser at work. I know I’ve mentioned that a few times here and I’ll keep mentioning it, probably in my three things Thursday. I’m not really sure what my starting weight was. I weighed in at 207, but I didn’t exercise that morning, so I guess it was 205? Well I like to win, plus I’ve always wanted to get rid of a little bit of garbage weight I’ve been carrying around, so this is the perfect opportunity. This morning I was at 198 through 17 days of the competition. I’ve lost weight before, and this is where I normally plateau. So we’ll see how it goes. I’d love to get down to 190.

3. On Sunday night at dinner, Ava, my 6-year-old daughter, shot me a random question, which is what 6-year-olds do.

“Who do you think is the best cook in the world?” I threw it back at her, expecting her to say my wife. Sure enough, “Mommy!” And she has a point. Tiff is a heck of a cook. Then she followed up with, “Who do you think is the worst cook in the world?” I was kind of thinking she was going to say my mother-in-law, because she sometimes makes some fairly bland food. But she threw me a curveball.

“You are, Daddy!” Aw shucks, thanks kid. She might be right, although I think I make a pretty good grilled cheese sandwich and I can put together a decent quesadilla. I also make my oatmeal in the morning.

OK, I’ve counted to three. I’ve fulfilled my obligation. It took me 11 minutes, though.

Have you ever sent a bad accidental text or email? Are you a better cook than me?

first of all, tiffs comment on here is awesome. and grilled cheese/quesadillas are SO TERRIBLY DIFFICULT to make, if you dont burn them ANYONE can call themselves a “great cook”.
jacks photo is priceless…. and my dumb (smart) phone sends a text to the wrong person on average once a week. every now and then it will be one that really should not be sent to anyone but the person who it was meant for. those are fun to explain.
