Autism does not just affect Duncan, autism affects our entire family, our extended family, our friends, and pretty much anyone who comes in contact with us (hence Team Fellrath). Duncan is a bright, intelligent, charming, and witty boy who loves his Mom (Jenn), Dad (Jamie) and his little sister (Moira); as we love him for who he is.
We received Duncan's autism diagnosis on December 19, 2008. Since then we have been working to make sure he has every available opportunity to make his mark in the world and to enjoy the happiness we all enjoy. Duncan's diagnosis is a double edge sword, as anyone who has an autistic child knows. Good news ? he's highly functioning (some say he'll be able to mainstream faster). Bad news - he's highly functioning (lots of explanations as to why Duncan is behaving the way he is... and those looks you get). He has made some great strides this past year and soon he starts special needs preschool, where he'll have access to therapists every day.
In January of 2009, Jenn embarked on getting healthy and fitter. During this journey we have met some great people. In this time Jenn was introduced to Train4Autism, and to how she could get healthy and raise money for Autism charities. Sam and Jenn met after Jenn read about his 2010 OperationJack plans. Now she plans to train for 10K or possibly ½ marathons so that we can join Sam at 2 events in 2010.
Please join Team Fellrath as we team with OperationJack and Train4Austism to generate attention that will raise funds and nationwide awareness for Autism.
The ability to leave comments on platoon pages will be available in early September.
